About
About Visionary
Visionary is an iPhone and iPad app of short, adaptive visual exercises built around reading, fine print, and screens. This page says who makes it, how we write about research and eye health, and how to reach us.
What Visionary is, and isn't
Visionary turns the kind of detail you read every day into short exercises you can practice a few minutes a day: Gabor patches, letters, words and sentences, visual search, and eye-movement tasks. Difficulty adapts to your answers, so practice stays challenging but doable.
It is a wellness app for practicing visual skills. It is not a medical device and not an eye exam: it doesn't diagnose, treat, or cure any eye condition, and it doesn't replace glasses or care from your eye doctor.
Who makes it
Visionary is made by Numentio, LLC. Its founder, Michael, started it after dealing with near-vision changes himself.
How we write about research
Visionary's exercises are inspired by perceptual-learning research: the study of how adults get better at specific visual tasks with practice. Those studies didn't test Visionary, and doing better in an exercise isn't the same as better eyesight, so we say "inspired by", never "proven".
- When we cite a study, we give who took part and its limits next to the finding, and we link to the paper. Our research review goes through the main studies.
- Our eye-drop guides are built from each drop's FDA label and link to the current prescribing information.
- We make an app in this space, so we aren't neutral. Our app comparisons, like the eye training app comparison, say so at the top.
- Our guides and tools are educational, not medical advice. For anything about your own eyes, see an eye-care professional.
How Visionary is paid for
Visionary is paid for by Premium subscriptions. Anyone can practice with one free session every day. Premium unlocks every exercise, the full plan, and progress history, and the annual plan includes a 7-day free trial. The App Store shows price, trial, and renewal terms before you confirm.
Privacy
Training works without an account. Sign in with Apple or email only if you want your progress backed up, and you can delete your account and training data at any time. The privacy policy explains what we collect and why, and the terms of service cover subscriptions and your rights.
